Food Support for Storm-hit Village

At the beginning of December, Storm Barra wreaked havoc up and down the country. Many towns and villages were left without power for days, including the village of Rimington, which is close to our main depot in Burnley.

To give the villagers a boost, we delivered hot food, such as Cornish pasties and pies, to the local community centre. Volunteers then delivered the food to homes cut off in the village.

Rosemary Duckworth from The Pavilion community centre, said "We cannot thank Birchalls enough. The food deliveries really lifted the spirits of some very distressed and anxious villagers."

The Pavilion has food left over from the deliveries, which they plan to use for a community Christmas lunch for the elderly and isolated in Rimington.
